Laptops

The first laptop was regarded as the Epson HX-20, developed in 1981, from which there were major benefits to the work of scientists, soldiers, businessmen and other professionals who saw the advantage of carrying with them their computer with all the information you need from one place to another.

The Osborne 1 was the commercial market in the format that distinguishes today, but then were extremely limited, even for the technology of the time.

In 1991 Apple took out his notebook model, which became the standard for the rest of us who have been released since. In 1995, with the arrival of Windows 95, sales of laptops increased substantially and now exceed sales of desktop computers.

In the third quarter of 2008, sales of laptops surpassed for the first time on the desktop, according to research firm iSuppli Corp.

Prototype of the first generation of laptops $ 100.
In 2005, the university members of the MIT Media Lab including Nicholas Negroponte and Stiward Lewis introduced the $ 100 laptop and the One Laptop Per Child project. The objective was to design, manufacture and distribute laptops inexpensive enough to provide every child in the world can have access to knowledge and modern teaching methods. The laptops would be sold to governments and distributed to children in American schools and other countries including Latin America, the laptop was considered the world's most useful device because it was small it was very easy to handle and was not as heavy as others.

components
Many of the components of a laptop are similar to components of the desktop, but usually are smaller, with similar components, some of which are listed below:
Low Power CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Core, Intel Atom (in teams of 10.1 "or smaller), or AMD Turion AMD Phenom
• Hard Drive 2.5 "(6.35 cm) or less, compared to disks 3.5" (8.89 cm) from the desktop
RAM memory modules SO-DIMM (Small Outline DIMM) DIMM smaller than usual on the desktop
floppy drive and CD or DVD SFF (slim)
Integrated keyboard
Built-in display TFT, WXGA, or OLED, which in turn performs the function of the laptop lid and facilitates mobility
• Touch panel for managing the mouse pointer instead
• Charger (can be loaded in use to optimize time and energy). Is usually 19.5 to 20.5 volts and 3 to 5 amps.
Battery, typically 2 to 4 hours in teams of 15.6 ". A 6-cell battery on a netbook with Intel Atom can provide lasting about 6 hours depending on model and usage.

Common Building Block is the standard Intel and leading manufacturer of portable components.
features
usually work using a battery or an adapter that allows both charge the battery as power supply to (even with the computer turned off, usually through the USB port). Wireless Power Consortium is developing a specification for wireless recharging of batteries in laptops.
They usually have a small battery that keeps the clock and other data in case of power failure.
• In general, at the same price, laptops tend to have less power than desktops, even lower capacity hard drives, audio and graphics less capacity and lower power microprocessors. However, typically consume less power and are quieter.
They usually have an LCD screen and touch pad.
• In general, they have PC Card (formerly PCMCIA) or ExpressCard expansion cards.

• There is a known type of portable mini laptops, which are smaller and lighter, M 570E
There is still an industry standard form factor for laptops, that is, each manufacturer has its own style of design and construction. This increases the prices of components in case you have to replace or repair them and makes them more difficult to obtain. Even there are often incompatibilities between components of laptops from the same manufacturer.
